The Lochoff/Bellini Altarpiece is an exceptionally accurate copy of a famous altarpiece which was originally painted in Venice in 1488 by Giovanni (Joannes) Bellini, for the church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice Italy.
The painted panels and elaborate frame were faithfully copied by a Russian painter, Nicolas Lochoff in 1925, who was commissioned the Frick family of Philadelphia to make copies of famous Renaissance paintings. The newly restored altarpiece is an inspiration to students, and faculty at a private boarding school in Massachusetts. We restored the altarpiece in 2013.
