This style frame could well have been originally used on a James E. Buttersworth marine painting as it is a replica copied from a period example. The stock is 2 3/4" wide and is covered with 23K gold leaf. This stock works well for the painting size which measures 12" x 18". The painting is of Newport Harbor (RI).
